Hey, you remember that New Hampshire state representative who, it turns out, was also the founder of the exceedingly icky woman-hating Red Pill subreddit? Today, apparently tired of answering questions about what a misogynistic shit he is, he quit.
Here’s the Daily Beast, the publication that uncovered Fisher’s role in founding the subreddit in the first place, on this latest development:
Representative Robert Fisher, the Republican who was recently unmasked as the creator and chief moderator of The Red Pill, one of the internet’s most notorious forums for misogyny, resigned on Wednesday following a New Hampshire legislative committee’s passing of a recommendation that no action be taken against him and a call from Democrats that the Attorney General investigate him for lying under oath.
Fisher had previously refused to resign, resisting demands from within his own party, including New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, a Republican, who called Fisher’s online comments “horrendous and repulsive.”
Which is if anything an understatement.
Before you award the Republicans any awards for courage here, though, you should know that the reason that committee didn’t vote to discipline him is that all of the Republicans on it voted for no action; the Dems on the committee all supported some kind of sanctions.
It’s also worth noting that Fisher sees himself as the victim here. According to the Concord Monitor,
Fisher explained his resignation Wednesday afternoon, without apology.
“Unfortunately, the falsehoods, lies and comments of an overzealous blogger and some of my colleagues have created a situation where I must genuinely consider the safety and well-being of my girlfriend, my family, and myself,” he said in an email. “It is with a heavy heart that I will be unable to complete my term.”
Poor baby. Apparently being a TRUE ALPHA DOG RED PILLER is tough, at least once the world finds out that you’re a TRUE ALPHA DOG RED PILLER.
